About

Darren was born in Brisbane at The Mater Children’s Hospital in 1971 and had a great childhood, attending the local State Primary and High Schools. When he was 15 years old his family shifted to Townsville, and his senior studies were completed at Pimlico State High School.

Following his electrician father, he completed an apprenticeship in Electrical Fitting / Instrumentation at the Yabulu Nickel Refinery (now QNI). He continued studying at TAFE to become a Licensed Electrical Contractor and studied Engineering at James Cook University and external studies at the University of Southern Queensland. He went on to work on heavy industry and mining projects throughout Australia and Papua New Guinea.

In 1996 he started, James Technologies Pty Ltd, then later the Jamestech Group of Companies. The Jamestech Group provides Electrical / Mechanical Contracting, Labour Hire and Training Services to Mining and Heavy Industry.

Over the years Darren has experienced many successes and just as many failures along the way.

He saw too many families split from the pressures of Fly In Fly out Work and too many good workers loose their job due to the stresses of long hours and being away from family.

Darren’s experiences in his own business’ and his knowledge gained from assisting some of the worlds largest companies have given him the know-how to assist all parties work towards solutions in Workplace disputes.

Darren has been married twice and has 3 beautiful children. His Family Law journey has taken him through the State Magistrates, Federal Circuit, Family and Supreme Courts.

Having been in the witness box of a Courtroom many times throughout his business and personal life has shown him the best overall resolution is rarely achieved through the Court System.

He says he has a good relationship with both his ex-wives, sharing care and responsibility for his 3 children with their mothers. Unfortunately the wounds that are left after a bitter Family Law dispute take a long time to heal, if at all.

Darren does not disguise that he is a firm advocate of Shared Parenting where possible, and that immediate Litigation is NOT the solution to a family dispute.

In 2016 Darren founded Lilly Pilly (Qld) Inc, a not for profit association providing supervised children’s contact and other support services for Families experiencing difficult times.

Throughout his career, Darren has observed and experienced the ease at which a simple conflict can soon destroy a happy family or large company.

Darren is a Nationally Accredited Mediator, Accredited under the National Mediator Accreditation System with the National Mediation Association and is a passionate advocate of early intervention Mediation.

Darren is an Accredited Equestrian Coach with Equestrian Australia and enjoys competing on weekends with his children in Eventing, Dressage and Show Jumping Competitions. Darren  is also a Level 2 Professional Tennis Coach with the Australian Tennis Professional Coaches Association.
